It has been a long lead-up, but Myron has started to army crawl. He has improved his technique a little bit since this video, but it’s similar. The propulsion is all in the arms, but he wiggles his legs as well. He really seems to tire himself out doing this after about five minutes. He mostly crawls toward toys (or occasionally parents) he’s interested in. With toys that roll on the floor, he can roll them and chase after them a little bit.
Last weekend, Myron and I helped till some soil at our friends Brigham and Caitlin’s new house. They planted wildflowers there and it seemed to be timed perfectly before a light snowfall.
Myron has established himself as a budding squirrel-watcher. He points them out with a “da!” and a finger when they crawl across the neighbor’s garage.
Myron’s foods of interest as of late are orange and lemon slices. Em gave him the lemon slice with a gourmet meal of salmon and rice with puréed veggies.
Daycares remain closed, and we have been working from home with Myron the past two weeks during the coronavirus quarantine. We are lucky in the sense that our workplaces are both very accommodating. So we have traded off Myron care between meetings. Occasionally he will entertain himself for a few minutes, and we will both be able to work for a bit. He is still mimicking everything. We taught him the baby sign language word for “more”, which he uses quite a bit when eating. Also he knows a couple of other nonsense mouth noises as demonstrated in this video (you might have to click through to the post to see it).
