Okay, so now that we are finally settled back in Providence, we had an open house.
Our invitation
Part of the preparation included freeing up all available bowls (and borrowing some mugs from our friends Seth & Sarah and Adam & Alyssa). We’ve had this so-called “chocolate asteroid” sitting around since Christmastime. Allow me to explain. Around the holidays, Em made some chocolate-dipped pears, which were delicious, and she had saved a bunch of leftover chocolate, which she poured into a bowl, and it hardened into an asteroid-like structure. I had been chipping away at it little by little with a knife until it got to the size shown here:

Then I had to devour it in one day to free up this bowl. Hey, it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.
Here’s our setup moments before our guests arrived:
Pre-Game Snacking (busted).
Em set up a drawing table for our toddler guests.
We felt officially welcomed back to Providence thanks to everyone who came. My
wildlife photography enthusiast, Auntie Mary found out about
New Urban Arts. Em got to meet a few of my awesome co-workers for the first time and bug them to car pool me to work (as opposed to riding my bike). Toddler twin duo #1, Oliver and Ben made friends with all the ladies while toddler twin duo #2, Hank and Dex made some marker masterpieces. Later, my artist / designer friends went back and turned them in to the derivative masterpieces shown below.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take photos during the peak of the event, but you can relive some of the magic with the photos on
Picasa.
I’ve been thinking about the Ikea sofa bed and how I can’t wait to introduce Rock to the wonders of sleeping on it!
